Why You Should Have Goals (even in your feminine)

3 years ago I thought I was crushing it.
I was self-aware about what my faults were. I’d started reading self-development books. I was doing well in my career as a teacher. I had good friends and a good dog. I had people who loved me.
Spoiler alert: I wasn’t crushing it.
My sister called me that New Years and asked me what my word for the year was… I didn’t have one. Had never even heard of it.
I had to put some thought into it and eventually I aptly settled on the word ‘choices’ to represent my 2022.
I wanted to make good choices, choices that would serve me well in the present moment and in the future.
You know what that word of the year did? It made me realise just how much I had stopped making my own choices, but more than that it made me realise that I wasn’t sure what good choices actually meant or even looked like anymore…
Sure, I hustled and worked bloody hard at my job. I tried working out a few times a week, saved for holidays and tried to be a good daughter/ sister/ friend. I was exhausted when I fell into bed at the end of everyday.
But I had given my power away…
Working hard IN your life, is not the same as working hard ON your life.
Think of the CEO and the floor staff of your local department store… the floor staff are working hard IN the business: they’re exhausted every day from working on their feet, but they’re mostly just going through the motions without making any real progress towards higher profits/ better visibility in the market/ improved systems.
The CEO is where all the big decisions are made for the real progress of the store… and I had let go of the CEO role in my own life somewhere along the way.
I was hustling, but for what? And for whom?
I lived on autopilot for so much of my life. I didn’t really know where I was going, or what choices would serve me best, because I had no idea where I wanted to end up… what was my goal? My intention for this one big life I wanted to live?
It’s the reason why I felt a little lost and confused about what I wanted, and frankly too damn scared to even acknowledge that there might be another pathway out there for me:
A pathway that would only become possible once I took some responsibility for my own growth instead of waiting for somebody else to hand it to me, and I started making some better choices about where I was going and why.
I needed to connect with what I really wanted, and then align my choices with that vision!
Your personal goals are so much more than an arbitrary KPI that the big boss hands you each quarter, quietly tucking it into your desk drawer so you can forget all about it…
When it’s done properly, you should set your personal goals up so that they become a series of check-in points for you to follow in life, and they constantly direct you forward towards your dreams.
And while that sounds lovely, there's a very specific process to follow to ensure that you DO actually create your goals properly so that it's easy and effortless to follow them!
Connect to your dreams with clarity, so that you feel confident owning them.
Align your everyday choices with your dreams so that you feel convicted in taking action.
Shift your energy from ‘I can’t’, to ‘I’ve just done it!' so that you have evidence of your progress.
Embody the values and mindset of the new you: the person who confidently moves forward knowing that success is inevitable!
A lot of people in the self-development world think that being in your feminine is about connecting with energy, aligning with spirit, asking for divine guidance… and maybe wearing a dress and doing less to regulate your nervous system.
Some of that is true. But sitting there and chanting affirmations in a dress isn’t going to bring you closer to feeling confident in yourself or your actions.
To balance your energy and create space for your feminine, you actually need to create safety first.
Most people don’t have goals, or any structure to support their actions. They either get stuck in the masculine action and busyness-tasks even if it’s just to make themself feel better about working on the floor, or they get stuck in the feminine feelings where they DO nothing and just walk around in that heavy energy feeling resentful of everyone else.
My signature four-step framework is the quickest way for you to gain that clarity, connection, and confidence that you're currently desiring.
Connect clearly with what you want.
Align your actions with your desires.
Shift the energy from doubtful to confident
Embody your new identity as a grounded, magnetic, confident woman on the way to achieving her every single desire.
It works every time.
I sit here in my van, on a beach at the bottom of the Yorke Peninsula , with three new clients in the last week, a bunch of clients who have already transformed their lives, my friends sitting outside working on their businesses too, the turquoise waters of the ocean calling to me as soon as I finish typing this email, and some really freaking exciting goals that I’m working towards this year.
And I did all of that as the CEO working ON my life in just a couple of years.
Now I'd say that's crushing it, wouldn't you? 😉
